Dearest Unsplash Photographers,

I am writing to express my undying love and gratitude to all of you.

Writers on Medium (myself included) spend lots of time dwelling on our experience as writers. However, there is an element of our writing on Medium that needs to be acknowledged. It is each and every one of you.

It’s time for a shout out to our good friends at Unsplash and the photographers who share their work with all of us. Before I started writing on Medium, I admit I had no idea where to find beautiful, appropriate photography that would help my pieces get noticed. Reading the basics of how to start on Medium led me to discovering Unsplash.

I love that it is encouraged and simple to add photo credits on the images. I think that is absolutely critical to recognize the talents of these artists. I spend so much time on Unsplash that I recognize many of the photographers names. I know make it a priority to find some of the more obscure photographers so I can help bring their work a bit more exposure, even if it’s just on my pieces or on my blog.

I find myself getting lost for hours in photography searches just to see the images that will scroll by on my screen. Some are downright breathtaking. Others are funny. The ones that are stark and raw, capturing true human emotion…
