I really like stories about socioeconomic issues. In the early 20th century, CEOs like Henry Ford (a completely flawed human being who I don’t admire in general) did understand that in order for his company to make money, his employees need a liveable wage. That way, they could afford to buy his cars. Somehow we’ve gotten away from the notion that affordability and moving people towards the middle class is good for everyone, good for the economy. Instead, we are breaking everyone with rising costs for health, education, and general goods and services. You really shine a light on this reality, and I love that you added the immigrant perspective. Thank you for writing this! Brava!
