A Quick Workout Led to Quick Weight Loss

The slow creep was happening.

That slow creeping of the scale. At first it was just a pound because I ate my feelings after a bad day at work.

Then I gained another two pounds. I told myself it’s not a big deal and it’s probably just water.

Suddenly, I was up five pounds and on my way to six.

It was time to hit the panic button.

As someone who spent much of her life overweight, I have a certain amount of fear of gaining back the weight I lost. Weight loss has become harder as I get older. The pounds no longer drop off with a minor adjustment. My recent round with the slow creep proved my old tricks were not moving the scale in the right direction. I needed a new plan.

The Old Dog’s New Trick

My eating plan is generally healthy. I practice intermittent fasting regularly, eating in a six hour window each day, and fasting the other 18 hours. I don’t gorge during those six hours, but I eat a normal amount of food, restricting only sugar and dairy.

With my diet was in check, I decided to find a new way to mix up my workout routine. I typically exercised in the evenings after work, doing an hour of yoga or pilates, riding my bike, or very rarely doing high intensity cardio.
