A Massage is not a Luxury

I once was given a gift certificate for a massage, and it scared the living daylights out of me.

I was so scared at the thought of just going to the appointment that I let the gift certificate expire.

I still regret it.

That was 23 years ago. I was a different person back then.

I was completely insecure.

I was ashamed of my body, and I was worried about a total stranger touching me. It sounded intimidating, not relaxing.

It was some years later when I finally took a chance and tried a massage.

Once I tried it, I never looked back.

Massage as a Health Necessity

I never knew the power that skillful, human touch can have on my well-being.

That first massage was a revelation. Like every massage, I didn’t want it to end. I was hooked. I wanted to book my next massage immediately.

But I didn’t. I waited over a year to book my second massage.

The reason I took so long is that I thought that a massage was a luxury, something I wasn’t rich or good enough to deserve on a regular basis. With other bills to pay and things to do, I didn’t see it as a prioirty. It was more of a want than a need.
